My 3 favourite reads in 2023

I do like a ‘best books’ list - especially when my books are on it! That’s happened to me twice - first with my non-fiction debut, Smoking in Bed, then with my third Q&A book, Hampton on Hampton - and I try not to take it for granted.

So I was delighted when Shepherd.com gave me the chance to pay it forward, with a list of the three best books I’d read over the past year (though not necessarily books published in that time), particularly as it also allowed me to put in a word for my latest book, The Mirror and the Road.

Here, then, are two fabulous novels and one fantastic work of non-fiction, which comprise my 3 favourite reads in 2023.
